Youth Farm Team (YFT)

Discover the wonders of nature by becoming a member of Blandford Nature Center’s Youth Farm Team! View the 2012 fact sheet to learn more about these brand new youth opportunities. YFT programs are offered to area youth ages 12 to 16 years of age.

Blandford’s YFT is led by Michigan certified teacher, Jesica Lamden. Participants will discern the ins-and-outs of sustainable agriculture and also receive an introduction to what it means to be a local “green” business. The YFT will also assist Blandford’s own sustainable farmer, Aaron Snippe, with daily farm chores such as weeding, organic pest management and building healthy soil. Here, agriculture leads the way as nature reveals itself through germinating seeds, plant and insect relationships, soil science, companion planting and so much more! Graduates of the Youth Farm Team will have the opportunity to serve as Youth Farm Team Leaders in the summer of 2013 and work more in depth with the Blandford farmer.
