Extinct Embroidery with Solstice Handmade: Ivory Billed Woodpecker
One of Michigan’s woodpeckers, the Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, features in our history of Sugarbush for its role in showing the earliest inhabitants of Michigan that there was something sweet to be harvested from maple trees! This evening, grab a friend and come learn a new skill as Dayna Walton of Solstice Handmade guides us through an embroidery lesson featuring another woodpecker – the Ivory Billed Woodpecker. We will practice several embroidery stitches and then use them to begin stitching an image of this now-extinct bird. While we stitch, we’ll fill you in on their history and what happened to them. This class is suitable for beginners and experts, and all supplies are included.
